Including more children and young people in education, employment and society

Young exclusion is a major societal challenge that entails major costs both for the individual and for society. Here we need a concerted effort so that knowledge is used to create real change. Actors in research, higher education and services that meet children and young people who are struggling must cooperate more closely and take part in order for them to have a good childhood and a good life as adults.

What is the social mission all about?

The aim of the social mission is to reduce the number of young people who are excluded from education, society and working life. What affects a good upbringing? We as a society need to work purposefully and across sectors to find out more about this. The involved ministries will be the Ministry of Children and Families, the Ministry of Health and Care Services, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion, the Ministry of Culture and Equality and the Ministry of Education and Research. The Research Council is the secretariat for the social mission. We are hiring an operational group that in 2023 will propose organisation and concrete goals for the social mission from 2024 and beyond. Broad community involvement will be facilitated.
